The art of taking care of your hat

Taking care of your A'gwesn hat means prolonging the life of a creation shaped with patience and respect for the gesture.

Each stitch, each fiber has been chosen to provide warmth, softness, and durability. Like any handcrafted object, it deserves special attention: gentle washing, slow drying, careful storage.

In return, it will continue to accompany you season after season, keeping its shape, texture and soul.

Wash gently

  1. Fill a sink or bowl with cold or warm (never hot) water.
  2. Add a small amount of mild soap (ideally wool soap or Castile soap).
  3. Immerse the cap and gently squeeze it under water without rubbing or twisting it.
  4. Let it soak for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Rinse with cold water until the water runs clear.

Dry naturally

  1. Never spin dry or tumble dry.
  2. Gently squeeze the cap between your hands to remove excess water.
  3. Then place on a clean towel, restoring it to its original shape.
  4. Leave to dry flat, in the open air, away from a direct heat source (radiator, sun).

Preserve over time

  1. After each wash or as needed, reshape the hat by gently stretching it between your hands. A gentle upward and downward pull, in the direction of the stitches, is enough to restore its original structure and volume.
  2. Once dry, use a lint shaver or wool comb to gently remove any small pills that may appear over time.
  3. Avoid hanging it: prefer to store it flat, in a dry and ventilated place.
  4. For long periods without wearing it, keep it away from light, ideally in a cotton bag or with a small sachet of lavender or cedar.
